Reading Masters FINA Ranking
FINA has just published its latest top 10 worldwide in each event and age group. Katie Henderson - the club's Swimmer of the Year for 2009 and a trophy winner at the town's annual sports personality awards night hosted by the Post - features in an astonishing 11 individual top tens.
The short-course programme features 18 events and long-course 17, as the 100 individual medley can't be swum in a 50-metre pool. Henderson features in seven of the former and four of the latter.
The crowning glory is her short-course breaststroke first ranking, secured in a world record time.
Katie has also logged four second places (100 breast S/C and L/C, 200 breast L/C and 200 freestyle S/C), three thirds (50 breast S/C, 100 and 400 medleys S/C), a fifth, a sixth and a ninth (200 IM S/C, 200 free L/C and 100 free L/C).
South African sprinter Karl Buchholtz, Reading's Male Swimmer of the Year, is also ranked, placed ninth in the world in his age group in the S/C 200 freestyle.
Both stars also feature in a world-ranked relay team. They join Michelle Harrison and Great Britain S10 Paralympic gold medallist Graham Edmunds, currently in hard training for the Commonwealth Games with the elite squad in Swansea, in a Reading mixed freestyle quartet ranked the world's fifth-best.
