Newbury Open meet 19 June 2010
Reading swimmers took the short journey to the Northcroft Sports Centre Newbury to compete in their Open Meet.
Masters Day Off - 27 June 2010
After long deliberation it has been decided to give the Masters a day off on Sunday 27 June.
British Gas Masters & Senior Age Group Championships
Reading's Masters squad coached by Chris Pearce are regular visitors to the medals rostrum at major championships, the pinnacle being top breaststroker Katie Henderson's world record swim in Spain early in the season.
South East Regional Championships 2010
The last two weekends have produced two more medals for Reading, both going to Ellie Wood and both in her favoured Fly events.
Amersham Novice Gala 2010
Reading Swimming Club’s junior swimmers competed at The Chiltern Pool Amersham in the home club’s novice team gala. For a number of the Reading swimmers this was their first ever team competition, with the opposition coming from Sea Byrds, Chalfont Otters, Bicester, Henley and the hosts.
Reading Masters FINA Ranking
Reading Swimming Club’s thriving Masters squad, coached by Chris Pearce, again features in the annual rankings listed by FINA, the world swimming governing body.
Ellie Wood shines at Welsh National Championships
Whilst Reading Swimming Club’s younger members were having success at their own Easter Meet last weekend, Ellie Wood continued her recent success at County level with some impressive displays at the Welsh National Age Group Championships at Swansea.
RSC 2010 Easter Open Report
The town’s biggest swimming event of the year is over, with a large volunteer team at Reading Swimming Club catching breath after three days of exciting action at Central Pool.
Berks and South Bucks County Championships 2010 - Day 2 - 13 March
Reading Swimming Club returned from the latest round of County Championships with a host of great swims, mostly from some very promising youngsters but including a career landmark for long-time pillar of the team Ellie Wood.
Final Round Thames Valley Junior League
Reading Swimming Club hosted the final round of the Thames Valley Junior League; visiting teams were from Amersham, Bracknell, Slough, Teddington and Wycombe.
Christmas Tickover
It will come as a huge relief to last minute Christmas shoppers to hear that Central Pool closes around 3pm on Christmas Eve so the last Club Night will be on Thursday Dec 17th and will be the fun gala which will start around 6pm. Top and District Squads will train as normal and other squads will just do the fun gala.
Jersey Report
Twenty six members from the Evening Post sponsored Reading Swimming Club travelled to Jersey last weekend for the AIB Jersey Tigers Meet and what promised to be a very gruelling weekend. The aim of this weekend was to subject most of our swimmers to a long 3 day meet for the first time and to get them to understand the importance of resting and preparing for such a meet.
World Records for Katie Henderson
Katie Henderson (Reading Swimming Club) set a new World record for her age group on the first day (23 October) of the British Gas ASA Masters and Senior Age Group Championships, as European and British marks also tumbled.
